Mission Statement
The goal of the “March to the Top” Foundation is to help underprivileged people of Africa by providing support in health care, education and conservation.
Health Care: HIV/AIDs and Tuberculosis (TB) are rampant throughout Africa, and the epidemic is particularly gruesome in the slums of Kibera, Mathare and the Athi River. While HIV/AIDs and Tuberculosis can be well managed in America, where people living with these diseases can often live long and fulfilling lives, lack of health care resources and taboos surrounding these diseases often render the infections fatal. The high morbidity and mortality associated with both HIV/AIDS and TB in Africa divides families and leaves children abandoned or orphaned. In addition to the need for better health care resources to treat these diseases, there is an overwhelming need for education about transmission and prevention of infection.
Education: The typical level of education within Sub Saharan Africa is the third grade. For many, this low level of education is due to unaffordable schooling and/or poor accessibility, and is not a reflection of the populations desire for education or ambitions. Education is key to empowering individuals, strengthening communities and economies.
Conservation: Tourism, specifically tourism of national parks and reserves, accounts for a large portion of the economic product in both Kenya and Tanzania. If long term conservation plans and measures are not enacted, the economies of these countries will have no long term sustainable viability. Wildlife and ecologic conservation is not only important for the economy, but, also for preserving these natural resources for future generations.
What We Do

History
Founded in 2006, March to the Top (M2T) was established by our family, the March family, as a foundation to help the less fortunate in Africa – a land and people that we love. We sought and successfully solicited donations in an endeavor to raise funds by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. At 19,340 ft., “Kili” is the tallest mountain on the continent. This family adventure proved to reveal the wonderful spirit of Africa to our family, and helped to raise our awareness for the needs of the people and landscapes which make it spectacular.
Our goal in founding March to the Top was to investigate and fund projects where our donors (and ourselves) could have a direct impact on the individuals and communities in need without the setbacks of corruption or administrative overhead. Beyond financial support, our goal was and continues to be to provide an on-going working partnership with the people and communities our foundation supports, so that both parties would benefit from the rewards that come with forming friendships and starting dialogues between diverse peoples.
