The Power of the Student
Students can dream, students can pursue, and students together, can accomplish.
On Sunday May 16, a committee of Harvard Westlake students led by Gaia Murphy joined together with Soul Cycle West Hollywood in support of March to the Top. For over 3 weeks, the committee and student riders worked to raise and seek sponsorship donations for their ride. Students raised $9,030, which was then matched by March to the Top to total $18,060! These donations are going towards the establishment of the “Sunshine Fund”, which will be providing a secondary school education for the highest achieving students of the New Hope – AINA School in Meru, Kenya each year. The first two recipients of this fund are Anastasia Kathambi and Purity Makena John. Each of whom has displayed promise, excellence, and a driving love for their studies.
This is only the beginning… Only the beginning of students using their strength and passion to give opportunities to other students like themselves, but who live in polar circumstances. Now the power is being handed to the two girls, Anastasia and Purity, who now will have a whole world of opportunity within their grasp.
