Orphans 4 Orphans: New Hope – AINA and Reteti Elephant Sanctuary

On Monday, the March to the Top team journeyed north to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary with the children of New Hope – AINA in tow! Reaching the airstrip just after sunrise, the children boarded the small aircraft ready to experience their first flight. As we ascended above the vast landscape of Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT), the children grinned in amazement.

A short twenty minutes later, we arrived in the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, an integral part of NRT and home to the first community-owned elephant sanctuary in Africa. Reteti Sanctuary works with the local Samburu community to care for orphaned and abandoned elephants from across northern Kenya. Our adventure brought together two incredible projects that seek to provide safe, healthy environments for orphans in need. In the coming months, the children of New Hope – AINA will continue their relationship with the elephant calves of Northern Rangelands Trust, deepening our mutual commitments to community conversancy and granting our children a window to an exciting new world. Stay tuned as we document this extraordinary journey!
